ape hanger width question
Sick ride Tampa Fat Boy, those are some really nice looking bars, gotta love the Carlini naming for their bars and risers.....
They are 11" wide at the base and 31.7" wide tip to tip. The HD website says they will not fit the Slim, but they fit just fine. The dealer did my install when I bought the bike new. I do wish the bars were a bit thicker, they are 1.25" dia, I was wanting 1.5" bars for the fat look to match the forks.
I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the base width? It's pretty narrow, a lot more narrow than the forks. Is this just the way it is with the more narrow apes paired with the wide forks on a slim?

Yeah that's about how they were on my Heritage with the 14" Nice Curves. It's the price of wanting narrow tip to tip width but still have curves vs Z bar angles. The bar ends require enough room for the controls and grips and the curves add a little width to make the bend. If the base was any wider, the grip width would follow suit unless the bars swooped in the middle. My Bendalicious bars I have on my Dyna do that, but I'm not sure that style would fit your Slim. The base is a bit wider though.

By the way, I like your Manx/VW Buggy in the back ground. One of those have been on my build wish list for years. I am trying to sell my 1980 Honda Bobber to fund a buggy build next.
Finally got the nice curves installed, had to get longer clutch cable, brake line and wiring. I can only roll them so far forward before they hit the windshield, didn't think of that. I'm not 100% sold on them versus the wild 1 504's they are replacing, need to give it some more ride time. Had a lot more control with the 504's but that may just be a getting used to apes thing.
here's a pic of the 504's that I replaced...
