Hey All, I think I'm wanting to switch to the Vance and Hines Big Radius on my Breakout? Any reasons not to? Any thoughts on black vs. chrome? I'm leaning black...
I have them on my 2016 FXSB and on my 2019 FXBB, what I do find is that on the M8 platform the exhaust is more outwards so that it hits the ground faster in a fast turn, I have already pushed the bottom pipe against the asphalt a few times
Cool. I figured that out yesterday after I did some digging. After seeing your gloss, I have to have it! Thanks for the idea!
I had powder coated them first but it just kept getting gray and dull. After cooling the exhaust you could polish it away and it became nice and shiny again. But last summer I stood in a traffic jam for too long and at the front exhaust it was really
just melted away, the powder coat I mean . I then completely sandblasted the heat shields and painted it with MIPA-therm Heat Resistant Paint 800°c / 1472℉ and the result is just as beautiful. Initially I wanted to go for black chrome, but the
waiting times increase to more than 6 months for this.
Well.... That's also good to know. I probably would have started with Powder myself. I assume when you sand blasted them, you went down to bare steel? Do you think the chrome is harder to strip than the matte black? I'm not sure which I should start with.

Yes, I went back to bare steel... chrome is almost impossible to go to bear steel with only blasting and is in most cases not needed if the chrome is in good shape, just blast it to prep for the powdercoat.
But if you buy them new I would go for the black ones instead of the chrome to powder coat.
