Just keep the stock exhaust, if your motor blows put the stock pipes back on. Of course if your 500 miles from home this could be a bigger issue.

Yes, it will work with the V&H exhaust system. It is a plug and play unit and you can do it yourself if your doing just a can tune. Only reason the dealer would install a tune is if they will be dyno tuning it.
Agreed..... I have run slip ons and high flow intake on my prior M8's without a tune and it ran perfectly fine. Where I draw the line is when upgrading to free flow exhaust. Which is when I installed a tuner.

DK Customs had put out a video on differences between the twin cams and M8's and whether a tune was necessary.

Here is the latest video pertaining to the 2021 models. Good solid info here:

From my experience....no tune is necessary when it comes to a simple stage 1 upgrade with slip ons and high flow intake.

Bottom line for me.....screw the warranty. I'm not a conformist and not going to wait 2 years for the warranty to expire to make a bike my own.
That being said, if someone wants to waste $400.00 on tuner they don't need, that's there prerogative.

what they said..............with the M8, there really is no stage 1. Stage 1 is a gateway drug for stage 11. With a tuner, slip ons, and high flow filter, you will notice zero difference with a tuner, no matter who the manufacturer is. now with stage 11? oh boy, she pulls like a tractor!

Default Tuner question answered

Have to disagree with reply indicating tuner has no effect on slip on high flow additions. I have Vance and Hines slip on’s screaming eagle airflow and I installed a Vance and Hines fuel pack three tuner made a very noticeable difference. Can change throttle response, remove decel popping, and various other parameters with your smartphone and the VH app, while you are riding the bike. Highly recommended add on.
