Kickstand “ENGINEERING CODE CRACKED”
Maybe it's a regional or historical thing, but I've only heard it referred to as a kickstand, ever since I was young enough to ride a bicycle.
I might be another one of those guys, but if you still need to argue about it after 50 posts, you may want to consider riding a bus instead...a short one.

Not having a newer Harley, and never having a problem with any of the older one's I've owned or currently own, I can say I'm happy as a clam with the weight locking design. And I'm not lifting my butt off the saddle to deploy it either. I just lean a little to the right if I need to. I've been at rally's and had to ride my bike off the stand because some A Hole parked on top of me. Even taught my wife how to do it.
When my Dyna was rear ended while parked at work in Neutral with the forks locked it was pushed up over the curb, bounced off a planter and came back down over the curb still standing!
A coworker had an old "Air Head" (BMW) and we sometimes let him ride with us in a group. When we all started up to leave every time you'd hear him cuss and say "Kick Stand Stupid!" His bike would die when put in gear when his was down.
Lastly, I just want to share one time I saw a guy with a 80s(?) Sportster in a gas station hit the go button while standing beside it. The bike took off in huge circles for a while with him running beside it before he could hit the kill switch. All the while with the stand down. They're great!

If you want to make some of those tight turns often taught in riding classes, I suppose that's one way of doing it.
Think you've got a corner on that? I deal with engineers daily and most don't know their elbow from their ******* because the computer program they are using didn't show them. My job revolves heavily around finding a workable option for what they bring print wise, what they think they want and what the job actually needs and let's not get into the language barrier and " correct " names of things.
Get over your yourself. Like it or not real knowledge comes with age and experience.

Why not just call it a 'stand'? Here, I'll use it in a sentence for you.
"The bike was sitting on it's stand." Or, "It was on the side stand." Not to be confused with 'center stand', which, IIRC most Harleys do not have.
Is it really a 'kick' stand if the bike doesn't have a kicker? Well, that may not be so, because the bike has no 'jiffy', either. Unless , of course, you're just running into the liquor store, and, you'll be back in a 'jiffy'.
Ima just call it a stand.

I have never had a problem putting my stand down
And have never taken off with the stand down
The bike leans over at such an angle on the stand that would be a ridiculous thought
You get on the bike, bring it upright & raise the stand
Its an automatic motion after 40+ years of riding
It was actually automatic after starting to ride the 1st year
Maybe its only certain bikes, but I have never had a problem
Ah, OK - it jumped to the 1st page when I was reading
Dang, not what I was reading when I replied....wtf

Interesting thread. I have three issues with the factory stand on my '19 Heritage:
-I was spoiled by my previous four HD's, all of which worked really well and were effortless
-This one is a bit awkward. Jinkster's suggestion to unload the suspension will help.
-I park frequently in a yard with baseball sized stones for gravel. My previous bikes were no problem at all. This one kind of 'points' down and the stand goes through the big stones such that the thing leans so bad it looks like it could go over. I have one of those feet meant for soft asphalt and it helps but it's another pain in the *** First World problem. I'm thinking about welding on a foot extension to make it look a bit more like the previous stands which were the best ever.
