There is the chance that the "Oil Spinner" has come off. Mine did on my 18 Fatboy.
The Oil Spinner is #15 in the picture. It's made out of some type of composite material.
Yeah man, thanks for the input, i just went out to start the bike up just to have a listen to which i heard nothing of course. Kinda like when you take it to the shop and the mechanic cant make the same problem happen. Its supposed to be nice out this week, so imma gonna take it out work on some miles down. But one thing is for sure, i have contemplated dumping my 1 year extended warranty coverage, i believe ill keep it lol.
Oil Spinner is only on the WideTire Softails, Fat Boy Breakout and FXDR.
It's not used on any other softails.
Good to know, thanks for the hook up, but be that as it may, i took the scoot out for a tour around town and on some back roads, and i think what i heard is the whining from the counter balancers. I managed to hear the same sound again as i began to slow down in 3rd then in 2nd, but it faded then came back in a slightly lower pitch.
Having a history of 50-years on Japanese sport bikes my 23 FatBoy sounds like rattling can of rocks at low speeds, if the noise was coming from my R1 I'd be prepared for throwing a rod.
I'm going to change the oil this weekend for the first time and just ignore the noises while it's under warranty.

I thought that the diagram that I posted showed an Oil Spinner? It sure looks like it.
If not, my mistake.
@FranBunny Thanks for pointing that out

Yeah man they are definitely noisy up top, but i took mine out for a 50 mile run today and it ran strong. Could still hear the noise i was complaining about, but i believe its in the counter balancer since they are gear driven. Once i get my 1K service done, just gonna run what oil Harley put in, until i get to my 5K, which ill do myself using AIMSOIL.
hey #702 the video you posted with the chirping noise is a current problem Im having with my 21 street bob any ideas on where to begin?
any info would be appreciated brother
