Default Risers, help me understand

Clearly I am thinking about this too much that my IQ dropped a bit

So on my Low Rider ST, once I install the new seat, I am looking at how to move the bars closer to me. Now I have read about 6 up and 2 back... and while I am happy with their height I have currently do I need to raise the height it I am just seeking to bring them closer? I am not finding risers with just pull back. I thought the stock height was 4.5 or 5. Are there plates that just provide offset back towards the rider and would that work as well?

Maybe. But risers will give you what you want. Wait until you get your seat though, and then figure out exactly what you need. I've equipped many bikes with risers. It's not rocket science and there will undoubtedly be a set that will work for you. Just continue doing your research but more importantly put on your new seat, and experiment with rotating your bars back and forth to see what more you might need and what add'tl height you need or not.

Perhaps dumb question, but have you tried simply loosening the bar clamp and moving the bars back an inch or 2 to see how they feel?

+1, I was able to rotate my bars and get a nice, free, improvement.

If you currently have 5" risers and buy a 6" riser with 2" pullback, the net increase is 1" up and 2" back. So, look at the various risers on the market and do the math.

The 1.5 inch difference in up will be negligible. The pull back will be noticeable. I swapped out mine and rotating the bars down a tad kept them at just about the same height as the stock risers

I did that on my LRS and it made a significant difference. It made the whole bike more comfortable.

I rotated them quite a way so that from the riding position I can no longer see the bend on the bars. They appear straight. It's surprising just how much strain that has taken off my back.

I would like to change them for kicked back drag bars because I think they look better. From my measurements I believe 6" pull back riser would place drag bars pretty much where my rotated stock bars are now. Depending on how much kick there was in the drag bars they could be closer to the rider than stock.
I don;t like the idea of off-set adaptors though, I think they look odd.

Krauss make plates that mount under your existing risers to move the risers closer to you.

My opinion is anything less than 5.5 pull back risers is going to be a waist of time and money. I went with 5.5 pull back risers and added 1 inch La choppers riser extension’s. What ever you do I would get rid of the Harley risers studs and get some grade 8 bolts. 5.5 pull back risers is not a huge change.
