Default Scary morning

Been riding as much as I can to work lately and started to feel a little more confident on the highway around 65 to 70 mph. This morning was more of the same until about halfway there my bikes motor shut off doing 70. Had never heard of limp mode before today. Anyway, once I made it over to the shoulder I shut everything off and gathered myself for about a minute. Started it back up and took side roads the rest of the way. No problems on the expressway going home and no warning lights. Will have it checked anyway. No traffic at 5:30 in the morning, can’t imagine this happening at rush hour

Was it limp mode or did the bike just shut off?

You sound like an inexperienced rider if you are still worried about 65mph on a highway. Could it be possible that you just accidentally hit the kill switch? Most of us have done that at least once.

In "limp mode". the bike will still run, but only at a low RPM. On my Pan America it is 4K RPM, but I have no idea what it it on my Low Rider ST. Probably around 1500-2000 RPM.

One other thing to check, which happened to me on my previous Softail Fat Bob was that the throttle by wire connectors underneath the air intake was not properly seated. That did cause the bike to go into limp mode and took me a while to figure out. I eventually pushed the connector halves together correctly and it solved the issue.

Default Scary morning

I’ve had a similar thing happen a couple of times on my ‘18 Heritage. I finally came to the conclusion that I was hitting the kill switch with my fat fingers. The last time it happened I flipped the switch back while holding in the clutch. I think I had to hit the start button before letting out the clutch. It hasn’t happened in a while once I figured out what the issue was. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else’s assessment and think you might of accidentally hit the kill switch. I’ve done it myself while trying to adjust a throttle buddy. Had no power but the bike was audibly responding to throttle inputs. Thought I had turned it off after I had stopped but after running everything back though my head I realized what I had done.

Keep riding! When you're comfortable with 65 to 75 on sidewalks you're ready for anything!

We've all had the kill switch cut off OP. I did it this past weekend messing with my mirror.
