The second one has failed. Three’s a charm? Seriously, the plastic on these new bikes is junk. Fender trim broke twice, saddlebag latch broke twice, seat split on the seam twice and I’ve lost track of how many turn signal lenses have fallen off.
Yeah I have noticed that things are quite cheap on this bike. The plastic trim on the fenders is super cheesy, the locking mechanism on the bags is trash, so far my seat seems to be holding up. My windshield cracked, not sure why that happened but I have the extended warranty too, I just need to find a better dealer because the one I have been going to sucks. The service department is terrible, people are nice but they don't communicate very well. sales people are nice
so has anyone else tried to get new locks from harley? been waiting a month for harley to get new ones because the lock cyl came right out of the lock. now the bag will not close because the latch is broken. been riding around with blue tape holding my bag closed on my $25k harley, this is bullshit.
Had one come apart while I pulled the key out at 28,000 miles. 2018 Heritage.
Took almost a month to get it in and it has been good ever since.
still under factory warrantee, wondering if this is a problem on heritage classics because. heard of a few lock issues just asking if a lot of people have had an issue
back ordered now until middle of august, wtf harley. this is bullshit. i have been riding around with tape holding by bag closed for 2 months, now i have to wait another month or more to get my locks replaced. my latch completely broke on one bag. what a joke
The bags are absolute trash. At least on the Heritage. Closing mine has become annoying since you gotta pull on on the lid and the locks won't turn so I can't actually "secure" them. Just another thing I can't stand on this POS Softail.
@crxracerb: I had the exact same issue occur on my 2020 Heritage Softail... infuriating how cheap these lock systems are, considering the money Harley charges for these bikes. I, too, was a member of the "Beautiful bike, but dude, is that like... gaffer's tape holding your saddlebag lid shut?" club. I tried to figure out all the little pieces, but I'm not good with crap like that. Luckily, my neighbor is, and he managed to get the original lock back together. It's understood that I have to be very gingerly with the locks, lest the same thing occur... again, supremely irritating. As for the guys claiming they "just put it back together and have had no issues since", pretty sure they have to be just as delicate closing their saddlebags as the rest of us mortals, seeing how shitty the construction and materials are to begin with. Just my two pesos.
