so has anyone else tried to get new locks from harley? been waiting a month for harley to get new ones because the lock cyl came right out of the lock. now the bag will not close because the latch is broken. been riding around with blue tape holding my bag closed on my $25k harley, this is bullshit.
I didn't get new ones. Once I figured out how it all goes together after it all fell apart it's been fine. I do agree they could be more robust though. Good luck.
When my tour pack latch (2016 Limited) wouldn't stay latched anymore, I bought a Kuryakin latch / lock combo. The lock cylinder was an easy removal, and I was able to put the stock lock cylinder in it. It was super easy. Maybe try an aftermarket latch.
still under factory warrantee, wondering if this is a problem on heritage classics because. heard of a few lock issues just asking if a lot of people have had an issue
Same problem here last year. Cylinder came out with my key when opening & fell apart.
Dealer replaced under warranty, however the lock does seem kinda weak & fragile.
Quality control oversight I’d say.
One hard pull on the lid would pop that lock right off.
I wont be hiding my collection of gold bars in my saddlebags!
Mine failed on my 19 Heritage a few months after purchase - used in early 2022. I had the extended warranty so they replaced it. Did take about 5 or 6 weeks however.
The second one has failed. Three’s a charm? Seriously, the plastic on these new bikes is junk. Fender trim broke twice, saddlebag latch broke twice, seat split on the seam twice and I’ve lost track of how many turn signal lenses have fallen off.
