These are some of the things that keep me from considering the M8 heritage, when it first came out, I was wanting it to be an overall better bike, I think they just went with a mono shock & the 114 and said that's enough. I have been watching to see how the accessories are coming along for it & that's the sad part - nothing like the previous platform & it's almost like the aftermarket doesn't care?

The Bags in all honesty id take off and use as parts bins in my garage, I priced out what it would take to make the new heritage "mine" and for what I came up with I'd be better buying & building the 107 road/street glide platform. on the Heritage to get bigger & better bags id need a true dual exhaust to give me the room (luggage inserts) which the M8 heritage I think looks better with a true dual exhaust - the seat would need redone or new (as usual) so with just these few upgrades the new heritage in billiard Blue / gray blacked out would cost me almost if not more than 27K..............WTF?

its a shame they have a good platform - its just that in order to build on it you'll be waiting & it'll cost as much as a touring bike dam near & even with my list there is still no passenger backrest, the old platform you could jump on with a passenger & have a couple day trip no problem right off the showroom floor, the M8 model not so much. I hope the MoCo has plans for the Heritage.

Yep every word there is spot on! The aftermarket folks have just not stepped up for the late model Heritage. Not sure why. But as I've said here before a thousand times it seems, try looking for all-matching foot controls, grips, pedals. FORGET IT. You'll give up in an hour. You'll second guess yourself and resume the search in a week or two. Still nothing. You'll feel like Yukon Cornelius looking for gold.

The colors choices are boring. You like black? You're in luck!! I chose a 19 in Kinetic Green just to be different. I didn't want to wait for the Reef Blue/Black 114 in all-chrome. Honestly my OCD wouldn't allow me to get past the fact that the tank top & sides don't match the fenders! The 22 Ultra is "correct" WTH?? Sorry that is just my personal problem I suppose. I had no idea the red 23 anniversary model was coming and would be gorgeous etc, etc.

Would I spend even more money to go with hard bags? Eventually maybe. Let's make it a goal to get rid of those stupid black rivets all over. Yep, gotta re-do the exhaust the make room. Again my OCD would never allow me to have hard bags that are not symmetrical. I try not to look my current bags since they are not.

Sorry for rambling. Do I like my bike? Hell yes. It's much more comfortable than a Road King or even an older Heritage. And easier to maneuver than a big touring bike. Besides, I do not need all the bells and whistles. My wife has her own bike so the most I ever take on is the luggage for a long weekend. But yeah, at the end of the day, I will be putting almost 7 or 8k to make it my own! Wouldn't it be nice for Harley to create a Heritage CVO. Hmm. Never gonna happen unfortunately
