it was the one thing harley did right througout thier years, all of my harley's from 1990-2014, always had a great kickstand, never thought twice about parking anywhere, even on hills. ....then recently, they had to change it and f**k it up lol
my 2020 softail kickstand sucks...i'm afraid when i get off the bike in my own garage lol it stands up way to straight, in the center of the bike...

Get a shorter kickstand. It makes all the difference in the world.

Near as I can tell, Harley makes the stands in at least 3 different lengths. The shortest is the one from the Low Rider (not S or ST), Deluxe, Sport Glide and Slim.

I replaced my Fat Bob's stand with one I got off ebay from the Sport Glide; $90 and sixty seconds later ALL my complaints about the original stand disappeared. It leans a little more now, and I can put the stand down securely on level ground without having to lean the bike to the right, and I can park on the side of the road when necessary even on slightly sloped ground. I found it a way better solution than the FixStand; with the FixStand it resulted in my bike scraping the stand's foot in simple left-hand turns and U-turns.

Anywhoo, every time I park it, I feel like this is the time the feeble little thing will give up the ghost and leave my baby on the ground.
Anybody have a similar complaint and/or solution?

Just trust it.
Ride safe...

It works, just trust it.

Have almost 59,000 on my 2018 Heritage and no issues so far.

Yesterday I got a 2018 Low Rider after not having a Harley for 21 months. It felt extremely weird being on this bike again (used to have a 2019 Low Rider) but the one thing that wasn't weird was the kickstand.

Ok, after dropping my bike a 2nd time after walking it, I've had enough of the long stand. Do you have a source for a retrofit stand similar to the original jiffy?

What I did is went on ebay and looked for an original "deluxe", "softail slim", or "low rider" kickstand assembly. NOT the Low Rider S or ST, those are longer, but the original Low Rider stand is the same as the Deluxe and Slim.

I found one for $90, and changed it over in about six seconds flat and am very happy with it.

The other way to go is to get a new kickstand arm, part #50000127, and replace the arm in your existing stand with the shorter arm. It's more work that way since you have to fiddle with the springs, and probably will cost more, but if you can't find an existing stand assembly for sale then it's not a hard job.

EDIT: looks like Drag Specialties now has replacement stand legs for the 2018+ models, in either stock length or 1" short. The Deluxe/Slim stand is approximately 1" shorter than the Heritage or Fat Bob stand, so if the other options don't work for you, maybe you can find one of these that will fit.

Just a tip if you haven't done it, a good way to extend a spring and make it behave while making a change like this is to insert a coin or washer in between each spring coil. It may not work for every spring ever made, but with a bit of luck your spring will be frozen at a length that is long enough to easily undo one stand and install another. It will work on a 1964 Norton Atlas for certain......

The Low Rider ST "Jiffy Stand/Kick Stand", is plenty robust to hold the bike and it does lock which is very nice. My problem is it feels to short for the bike causing the bike to lean over more than I like. I tried replacing it with a Fat Bob as I love how my Fat Bob keeps the bike more upright. I may try the Sport Glide next. It just leans over more than I like.
