Got the damaged FXLRST bags back from my painter, they look like new but I still can't wrap my head around the size difference or the clamshell opening. I ordered some Viking bags that, in pictures, look really good on the ST. Quality product, good proportions, but the Viking version of gloss/vivid black is something they call "black pearl. Picture a deep brown pearl in the paint, not gloss/vivid black on any planet. Sent them back and now I'm back to square 1 in my search for bags. I like the LP Retro V3 bags, a lot. My question is, if you have them, what do you do to lock them while you're out and about? Do you like them? How have they held up to weather (sun rot etc)
Thanks for your help fellas
I had them on my dyna back in 17. Put about 12k miles on them and they held up well. Never noticed any discoloration. Loved the storage capability and look. Never locked em but if you are determined you have to, then a luggage lock thru the zipper is an option. Just remember at end of the day it's still a soft bag so a sharp knife will always "unlock" it. All in all excellent bag and I am contemplating using them instead of the hard bags on my st.
I love em. Have had a few sets on Dyna's in the past. I lock them to the bike from the inside and I use a small luggage type lock on the zippers. Will it stop someone determined? probably not but it'll likely stop or slow down someone opportunistic from grabbing em. Which is good enough for me.
I do the same as others; I lock the inside so they can't be unlatched and use a luggage lock on the zippers. I haven't had any issues either and they do hold more than the ST hard bags. I also try not to keep anything super expensive in the bags for long periods either. The great thing about the Leather Pros is on long trips I just bring them into my hotel room. I have had friends with hard bags broken into as well. A pretty job to pry open and thieves don't care if they damage your bags.
I have the LP bags as well, ran them on my Low Rider and now on my '23 Low Rider ST. I only put them on when needed but after running the ST bags for a very short stint I think I'll leave them on. I went with the canvas not the leather but the leather does look good on the bike above.
Edit: I don't lock them as really someone can just cut them open, so just like my old ragtop Jeep it's cheaper to leave open than lock them up. I do ensure the snaps are closed though and figure it as a deterrent. They still look new after four years but I do spray them.

They are very well made bags. I had the leather version on my Dyna and really liked them. Plenty of storage space.
One downside is that they are not waterproof, so if you want stuff to stay dry you need to use some kind of waterproof liner. I just used trash bags, but it's not the most elegant look to schlepp stuff into the hotel of an evening....
Of course, you can easily take the entire bags off, but I found they were awkward to carry from bike to hotel.

First world problems....
I wonder if you could use waterproofing spray like they have for boots? There's been more than one occasion of getting caught in a summer downpour here while out riding.
I like the LP bags but for those of us that have a 2 into 1 pipe the large gap between the bag and muffler looks unsightly. I wish they made a bag that was just a little larger so the gappage wasn’t so wide, if I slid a set on my bike the bags would be out of proportion looking too small..
The full size Retro LP's close that gap for 2-1's. Look at my bike above. Can't get much closer than that without some heat issues. Plus they're the same size left and right so from behind they don't look dorky.
