The Everything M8 Street Bob Thread
Well with the exception of a few small details, it's about done. For now.
I added:
Front aand rear axle covers
Swingarm bolt cover
Fork covers
I cut down and powder coated the stock levers
Powdercoted the headlight trim ring
Powdercoated the side covers in wrinkle black
Tank lift
Added cruise control
Added forward controls
Security siren
Custom Dynamics LEDs front and rear
Smoked lenses
Custom Dynamics flasher
Cycle Visions license plate relocation kit
Tab mufflers with medium baffles
Blacked out hardware with Ciro bolt covers
Front turn signals relocated
Turn signal button extensions
Flush mount pop-up fuel cap
Spark plug covers
Removed the reflectors
Get-AGrip grips
Breather bypass
Oil cooler screen
Arlen Ness mini ovals mirrors
Kodlin 1.5" lowering kit
Orange SE plug wires
K&N filter
I'm still waiting for my upper exhaust tip to get back from the powdercoater. It got messed up the first time. I'm getting some thread and vinyl samples next week from Mustang for my Custom seat im having made. I'm going to put about 1k miles on it when the weather gets better before doing a cam and voiding the warranty. Then I can get the chrome off of the pushrod tubes and lifter blocks at the same time. I'm trying to find Baja Orange powder to do the lower rocker boxes then as well. I've been researching saddlebags or a swingarm bag or something to carry the essentials but not sure what I am going to do yet. This bike is brand new with 1 mile on the odometer. It was delivered on I think January 6th or 7th. I did all this work to it and as crazy as it seems, I have never even heard this bike run!

For the latter I'll be using some Tiger Seal PU adhesive and sealant

The Security system light (reference page 94, fig 35, number 6 of the owner's manual) stays permanently on while riding.
Bike starts and rides fine.
I've done the obvious which is change the battery in the fob.
Tested that this is working by moving the bike without the fob, setting the alarm off and then returning with the fob which disarms it.
I've even tried changing the PIN albeit I'm not sure if I did that properly so will try again (referencing pages 61-63 in my owner's manual).
Any ideas welcome.

Only done cosmetic changes (backrest, seat, tool roll, etc.)
I am wondering (clutching at straws) whether or not my Battery is on its way out albeit I keep it on a Battery conditioner all the time and it's fully charged and never have any issues starting it up - starts first time on the button and runs/rides great.

This morning I changed the PIN code and verified that was working properly but still had the issue.
I then came in and did some web searching and found that a "possible" cause is a blown bulb.
Went back out to the garage, checked the bike over and found that one of the number plate lights wasn't working.
Going to order a new bulb (Harley Davidson 52441-95 BULB,BACKLITE) which "I hope" will fix the issue.
I'll keep you posted.

I now know what the problem is.
I replaced the number late light and still had the Security system light on.
Went back through checking everything and noticed that the brake lights were permanently on.
Ran a diagnostic check and got:
B2161h - brake lamp open
B2262c - Front switch brake stuck
So, there's my problem.
Now need to order the Harley-Davidson Hand Control Brake Switch 71500118
...albeit I'll most likely get the H-D AD to replace it for me as it looks like a right PITA job to do.
