What eats our tires in Ohio is the chip and seal that most country roads have. I'm old and and just cruise the backroads at 45 MPH and still only get 9000 out of 401's. The lower portion of the Blue Ridge in August was really ruff chip and seal. When I left Ohio I had new tires, when I got back, tires looked half gone. That miserable stuff eats tires no matter how you ride.
Same deal here in western Maryland, hate that damn tar and chip. Original rear nearly done at 3k. Yesterday hit a new patch on my favorite road and the gravel in the center of the lane is a bastard. Hard to set up a corner when youre riding in tire tracks. Mind the gravel
I get 8000 or so and I'm looking to replace both tires. I have Michelin C3s on my road glide, about 4000 miles on those, Im already feeling handling differences while cornering. The softail slim we just sold had almost 8000 on metzler 888s, they were about due to be replaced. I plan on trying Dunlop Americal Elites on my next tire change.
