Default Mustache Engine Guard

Has anyone used this particular Engine Guard from Amazon? Half the price of the Harley brand one and some folks say it's almost identical

Amazon Amazon

One place I would never risk getting Chinesium is in structural members. Crash guards, handlebars, risers, controls, etc. I've sometimes tried the Chinese stuff for things like round bar mounts for putting a light on, and had "solid metal" mounting parts snap in half. I've used Chinese LED lights and other things like that and the quality is generally getting better, but no way would I trust something like a crash bar.

I did have occasion to use my crash bars once, my foot slipped on something greasy on the ground at the gas station and I couldn't hold the bike upright as it went over on the right. Was awfully glad I had a quality U.S. steel crash bar installed (Bung King); absolutely no damage to the bike whatsoever.

Default Take a chance and let me know

I have the genuine HD bar on mine. It does what you expect. Protects bike if you have parking lot drop and provides place to mount highway pegs. The rubber pads on it have fallen off, granted I’ve had it for 5 years now.
Fitment on anything aftermarket can be hit or miss, and it tends to be even more so on stuff off of Amazon. For half the price of the genuine HD product, I’d be inclined to take a chance on it

I have used this engine guard. It fits perfectly and does the same job as the Harley one; I have no regrets in using this over the Harley model

So true!!!! Do your research. Never, ever purchase metal parts that are safety or structurally oriented that are made in China. I've been screwed over more than once with outdoor chairs and related items. You cannot tighten the nuts because they twist off. Do you really want to count on that with your bike when it comes time to do it's job - God forbid.

And be careful of the "American" companies. They are based here and are all about that on their marketing, but their crap is made in China.

At work we forced by a buyout corporation to use Chinese castings. They cracked under regular loads. Wasted lots of time and effort proving corporate suits wrong.

Don't chinz on structural parts.

Just bought a garden hose by an "American Company, Made in America". Box received marked "Made in Taiwan". False advertising.

It probably works just as well.

I have a legit Harley one I took off my bike , if you’re in the US I can probably get it shipped to you and sold for cheaper than that one . Send me a message we can work something out

It's designated as an "Engine Guard". Its not a "crash Bar" I am sure the reason for the name is so people will not assume it's actually for your safety.

These specifically say they are not made in China. That's one of the reasons I was asking about them. I've heard they are almost identical to the Harley ones, without the Harley name.
I wont buy cheap Chinese junk. I get it. And really, my question specifically was asking if anyone has used that specific one that I posted.
