Default 18' FXLR Upgrade Suggestions Needed

Hello. I am looking to do a stage I and II in one shot to wake my M8 107 up. Below are parts I've researching:
* Arlen Ness Monster Air Sucker kit (on its way to me)
* D&D Low Cat Up-Swept Exhaust
* S&S 475C Cam kit with Oil Pump, Cam Bearing, Tappet sleeve
* Thunder Max Auto Tuner

Questions:
* Are there better setups I can go with?
* D&D exhaust do not have Cats. How does the TM tuner know what to adjust?
* Do I have to tune after stage 1 or can I do it after stage 2?

Appreciate any advice anyone can offer.

If you are doing a cam swap you are beyond stage I.
The Thundermax can do this with the proper set-up.

The best thing to do once you install the parts is take the Thundermax to a reputable dyno shop and have them do a dyno tune. Thundermax will have maps that will get the bike running but a real dyno tune will give you optimal results.

The S&S 475 cam was one of the first cams for the M8's. It doesn't come on until it gets up above 3000 rpm. Most of the dynos for the 107 are not with the current cams that are available.

I think the Cycle Rama 480 MT is an impressive cam.

Their APE 483 also does well.

If you are going with a new cam there are better choices than the SS475.

As for tuners, the TTS Mastertune and the Powervision 3 & 4 are less than half of what the ThunderMax costs. You can get maps for them that will allow you to start and ride the bike, some will be better than others. A dyno tune will be necessary to get the most out of you build. They use the ECM that came with your bike, they just change the tune that's in it. Unless something has changed recently, ThunderMax uses Alpha-N technology, which the automotive industry quit using in the late 1990's & early 2000's. Again, unless something has changed, you lose the knock sensors with the ThunderMax. This is something I find worthwhile, maybe you don't. If you decide to go with the ThunderMax, I would contact Cycle Solutions. They are probably the best tuners for a ThunderMax. They can help you do tuning runs to optimize your performance until you can get to have a dyno tune.

* D&D exhaust do not have Cats. How does the TM tuner know what to adjust?
It uses the 18mm O2 sensors for tuning. The D&D will have bungs for them.

* Do I have to tune after stage 1 or can I do it after stage 2?
If you are just replacing the air cleaner, and even the mufflers, you won't need a tune. The dealer will tell you different, but I have done it quite a few times without a problem. Someone else will have to chime in on a complete exhaust system replacement. I'm not sure how much that will affect the tune.

Appreciate any advice anyone can offer.
That's my advice to you. Hope it helps.
