Default Removing the hubcap on a Heritage

I'd like to remove the hubcap on my new Hydra Glide when they install the wide whites next week. In one of the threads, it was mentioned that he made a spacer to take up the slack of the cap. Is this necessary ? Anyone else that has removed the cap install a spacer ?

No spacer needed. There is a spacer in the hubcap held in by a snap ring.
I went to the garage and took a pic of mine.

Not necessary, it was the same on mine and it works well like that...
