I started a heated grip project on my '22 Fat Boy. Harley's instructions with the grips say: "Some models may have a damper weight that needs to be removed inside the left side of the handlebar."
Well thanks for the tip guys! There's no other info about how to remove it, and nothing in the factory service manual. There's nothing to grab onto with a tool that I can see. Anyone know how to do this?
I found a video of someone recording a dealership tech installing their grips. They didn't show how to remove it but the person said it they had to "beat on it."
i warmed it with a heat gun several times but I had no idea how big this plug was, otherwise I would have gone further up the bars. Beat on it for a while and it is finally out. Good Lord what a stupid design.
