Default 2024 117 vs stage 2 114

I haven't seen any comparisons between these 2 engines. Anyone have any seat time to say? I currently have a '18 heritage with a zippers 468 cam and power max tuner. Was wondering if I ever upgraded would the new stock 117 have similar performance of the 114 without any upgrades.

I would imagine the VVT and any other updates in the 117 will make a bigger difference than a mere 3 cubes...

117s don't have VVT .. but at the crank 24 117s are rated at 105 hp and 130 tq..so at the rear wheel maybe 92 and 117 ish .. still pretty stout for stock M8s ..but numbers aside, I'm impressed with the power delivery of my 24 117 and peak torque a little over 3k rpms, but it's given about its best at around 4500 rpms (which is plenty for my liking) and pretty typical for stock HD engines..but for those prefer to often spend time above that to redline, then cam, exhaust and proper tune is the solution .. or just spend the $ on a CVO 121 ST and have some serious adrenaline rush right out of the crate

The 114 with an RS468 and aftermarket tune will outperform a new 117 that is unmodified

Only the 121 has VVT
117 does not
Had both 2023 FLHXS ST with 117 had great mid range while the 2019 FLHXS with stage 2 114 had great bottom end. Depends on how you ride.

A stock 117 won’t keep up with a stage 2 114.
i had a 2017 stage 2 114 and traded it in on my 2022 CVO Roadglide with the 117. I told my friends That I was going to keep it stock. That’s until I looked at the Dyno sheets for my old bike and a stock 117.
I couldn’t stand the thought of my new 117 being slower than my old 114 so I did a stage 2 on the 117.

way too general of a statement to be accurate..I rode a 2023 RKS 114 Stage 2 with the SE 447 torque cam, AC and Street Canons and I would not be afraid to take it on with my 24 RG 117, which has HP and TQ increases over last year's 117..I get what you are saying if many specific cammed 114s are discussed but...

I had a 2017 CVO Limited which was a 114. I put a SE 442 Torque Cam in with Street Cannons. Loved that Cam and its performance especially since I’m always riding 2 up with my wife. On the Dyno it did 98 HP and 120 TQ.
All the Dyno sheets that I saw on stock 117s were in the vicinity of 94 HP and 110-115 stock.
i would have put another 442 cam in my 117 but HD wouldn’t tune it so I went with the 462 HP cam.
It made 111 HP and 123 TQ on the Dyno. I noticed it’s not quite as strong as the 442 below 2500 but after that it rolls. Really a strong motor.

how about an OLDS 442 with a 455 !! ...anyway, these bigger displacement stock engines are strong runners..I remember how laughable my TC 103 H.O. was..what a dog..mine would choke itself to death on hot days at high elevations and put the SE255 cams in it and was still anemic compared to stock M8s, which don't suffer that way thank God. We are fortunate these days to not have to feel so compelled to spend money on engine upgrades

I have 2016 FLHXS and never ridden M8 yet. I’ll be in Spokane on May 2 possibly getting GTS flashed. Called the salesman to see if I can ride M8. I really want to see the difference.

My 2016 is still stock at 65k miles.
