I had the handlebars replaced on my 24 SG yesterday and now the mirrors are obstructed. I bought new mirrors from my dealer, and plugs for the stock mirrors, but I need to remove the inner fairing to remove the stock mirrors and install the plugs. The only videos that I've found are for 23 and older SGs. Does anyone know of a video, or a simple description, for how to take just the inner fairing off.
I've owned 3 Road Kings over that last 20 years and I had no problem working on them, but the fairing on the SG is all new to me.
Are you sure you can't get to the mirror nuts by removing the outer fairing? That's how you get to the mirror nut's on other SG's. Inners are not an easy thing to remove.

Maybe. The kid at the parts desk said inner fairing but he probably doesnt know any more than I do.
Use this handlebar replacement video as a reference. He goes step-by-step through the process of removing the outer fairing. In the picture below you can see the mirror nut.
You only need to remove the outer faring, not the inner fairing. There is a good video on the H-D website with instructions on how o remove the outer fairing if you search for the Stage 2 amplifier installation.

thanks. I managed to take care of it last week. You are right, the outer is all that needed to come off
when I was in for my 1k .. I asked the dealership about a bar install .. they said 2k.
I watch this video and see its about an hour long. Id add an hour, to be generous, to the video for whats been cut out. Thats 2 hours. Plus add in the heat grips .. maybe another 30 minutes. Bar type really has nothing to do with it. But a bar install based on this video should take a Tech no longer than three hours. Would probably take me at least 8 because Id want to go real slow stopping this video along the way.
If we use the $135 an hour labor charge that is customary here in NC, a bill of $2000 would mean that it takes an experienced tech almost 15 hours to do the job. " ... fill the crack pipe 1/2 way man !!"
