My long distance review
I completed a trip to Utah and back from Tennessee for the Road Glide National Rally, aka Sharkweek. Google it if you are not familiar with it. I was gone for 14 days, 4983 miles and 92 hours riding. I left home with 1389 miles and returned with 6372 miles. The bike is well broken in.
Temps were lows in the mid 50s in Colorado and highs one afternoon of 111 in St George Utah. Speed limits of 80 mph in Utah and Oklahoma. We travelled to Utah on RT-66. If you want a taste of America, travel some of that if you can. Our return trip was up through Colorado and then down to New Mexico and across the plains back to Tennessee.
The bike performed very well.
Water temps maxed out a few times at 242 degrees. Once in hot rush hour traffic in Oklahoma City and also on the 111 day in Utah. On cooler days it ran in the 210 to 230 range.
The screen did do a reboot one time after startup, not sure why. One glitch where my ride info screen was kind of greyed out but a restart cured that. I had the screen set to high contrast and after I switched to the regular screen it went back to normal.
I do wish I could see oil pressure and oil temp on my screen.
I am pleased with my bike. I miss my lowers from the old bike in the rain but we only had one rain day out of the 14.
Bugs in Oklahoma are as big as nickels and hit hard at 80 mph. Im still polishing their hits off the fairing.
I changed crankcase oil and primary oil in St George before the return trip.
The bike was comfortable and handled the trip perfectly.
To everyone that is having issues with their bikes, Im sorry you are but I have to say Harley hit a home run with the new engine changes and weight adjustments. Handling in the turns is much better than my previous bike. Engine power is strong. Engine heat management is very good. I never experienced heat issues some other riders were having. The new screen gives good information and CarPlay worked perfectly. I dropped a cell signal a couple of times in remote Utah but it picked it back up within a few minutes.
Im very happy with mine. I highly recommend looking at one if you are interested.
I wouldnt trust those mpg numbers
