Default 2024 CVO ST with a twist

This is a project that we've been working on for awhile and today we got the results. Customer wanted a bit more power but had his ideas of how the bike should look and sound. He did NOT want loud but was willing to look at some options, not a 2:1 and he really liked his stock ST mufflers. Did not want the bike to look like things were all modified and wanted to be able to still ride two up without worrying about it. Did not want to run the RPM way up the scale for big HP numbers. So we talked about things and got a plan setup and we worked on a new camshaft design to fit with the changes we went with. We were already working on a camshaft designed specifically for the 135 and larger engines, so it fit right in for us. First was to purchase a SE 135 kit from HD to add to the 121. Next was a Fullsac MX Headpipe so he could continue to use the stock heat shields and keep the look he wanted. Then went with a SE Wedge Air Cleaner as the stock ST unit does not fit with the 68mm Throttle body supplied in the 135 kit. We took the stock ST mufflers and removed the end cap, removed the restrictor baffle and reinstalled the end caps on the mufflers. We did not remove anything else from the mufflers. Tuned with Mastertune and a factory ECM.

As always these test results are in 5th gear with the engine at full operating temperature (200+).

Think this should put a smile on his face when he picks it up tomorrow to go put 1000 miles on it before it comes back in for inspection and his report of what he like or hates about it. There is more power to be had with a different exhaust but with these results, does anyone really care. This thing is a rocket ship the way it is now. Nice and easy to ride with a fully functioning factory ECM and all factory safety functions work as designed.

Sounds like an ideal compromise on aesthetics and squeezing out some extra power. Please report back in on the customers reaction and observations.

Great job Steve. This is my philosophy also. Not interested in max hp, want TQ off throttle down low that carries out. As stated, bet this is a riot to ride and sounds great.

Good job Steve, I am glad someone finally put the whole package together!
If the stuff above does not work, the bike aint worth **** to ride in my opinion and I spent a ton of money to figure it out.

Sorry you had to go through what you did. Had you been closer I would of loved to see what yours should have done.

Got a short response from the customer on the bike. He took off from the Los Angeles, CA area and rode to Reno, NV area and it ran perfect and he said WOW, I'm going to get in trouble with this thing. It's about 500 miles each way. So you start at sea level and ride out through the high desert (~4000') and on up through the Sierra's which run from 4000' to 8000' along the way to Reno. 100 deg temps in the desert area and the 80's up Reno way.

What was the sound difference with the baffles removed from the mufflers? I planned to remove mine for more sound but I saw a video where someone did that and claimed it didn't make a difference. I suppose its hard to tell as you swapped out the headpipe.

Wow, this is great, Im glad to see some big numbers with the SE mufflers. I'm the same way, I don't want to run a 2:1. I have the Fuel Moto 2:1:2 pipe similar to the Fullsac. I also took the restrictors out of the mufflers, makes a huge difference in sound. They sound perfect with the baffles removed. Awesome numbers man.

The baffles tune the acoustics of the muffler (sound and pressure waves), removing them changes that and not for the better, you will suffer a loss of low end torque and not likely any increase of top end power doing that.

Normally you are spot on, but my experience with the titanium SE mufflers, there is more than enough back pressure with the baffles removed. I think with that torque curve theres nothing left on the table. My bike runs like a raped ape.
