Winter mods: Slamtastic
Shotgun ride is as good as everyone says it is. Only got it out for about 45 minutes today, but man it feels tight and smooth. Still figuring out the settings-- right now, about an inch from slammed and a couple of taps from full firmness feels pretty good. Installation wasn't too painful thanks to some coaching from JD. It's a little trickier on these older bikes, requiring a little frame grinding but nothing too tough.
The Samsons sound great. Install was also not as easy as it is for the twinkies. Had to fabricate a bracket and drill/tap the frame on the left side since they no longer make a configuration for pre-'95 bikes. I felt like I was in frickin' OC Choppers making stuff to get all this to work. Pipes do sound good though. I thought they might be a little louder, but I bought baffled to maintain some back pressure. Was curious about having to rejet the carb, but after my ride today I think it might run better than the stock pipes did. Either that or the motor just likes all that Stabil I put in my tank for the winter.
Also a couple of little things-- stainless braided oil lines, Kuryakyn chrome tranny surround, chrome lower belt guard and a oil pump cover.
Anyway, thanks a whole bunch to JD for the help and for Dr. VTwin for hooking me up with great pricing and really quick shipping. I think I'm done for the winter. There's still a lot I want to do to the bike but let me know what you guys think so far!

Next big thing I think will be wheels. I'd like some fat spokes, maybe some RideWrights or Sinisters. I'd really like to find a Heritage Springer seat as well. I like the LePera but seems like the springer would just be right for this ol' girl.
t.sawyer: hell, no! If I rode it it would get dirty! Seriously, I ride as much as I can. Put almost 4,000 on it last year-- hoping to do more this summer. Found the bike with 7,000 miles on it in Nov. 2009, so it is pretty new a 17 year old scoot!
