Default Buy more Hogtunes or dump it.

I have a 2013 Ultra limited and installed the HT big ultra kit that includes 4 speakers and a 160 watt 4 channel amp. Louder than stock but sounds tinny. I called HT and they suggested the 7'' lowers woofer kit. I then connected the amp to the lowers and the faring speakers some improvement but overall disappointing. The rear pods are connected to the radio direct per HT recommendation, my wife didn't like the sound quality of amped pods. I called again this time they recommend their 200 watt 2 channel amp and connect it to the lowers and connect the existing 160 watt amp to the faring and pods.

I think it time for a do over unless there is any of my HT stuff worth keeping.

I am considering replacing HT amp with the Fosgate PBR300x4 and connecting it to the faring speakers and the lowers. should I replace the HT speakers also? Thanks in advance

As my friend AAWAV always says. . . Read as many audio post on the forum as you can before you make any decisions. A good place to start is the UltraNutz sticky at the top of the forum. This will give you an idea of what speaker/amp combos guys are running and more importantly how to install yourself. Sell the hog tunes stuff and use the proceeds to start all over again. Do not buy the PBR300X4 to power your system. Let us know your budget and we will help you from there.

nicely said. I myself went down the hog tunes route. It was a very bad decision I was not happy at all.Gannicus said it best look around and read up before making a decision . I myself love to BT audio set up. But all depends on what you can spend.

I would not replace that amp with the 300x4. I would leave the amp as is for now and replace the speakers first. What model amp do you have please?

your question is: "Buy more Hogtunes or Dump it"
the latter LOL...

Seriously, UltraNutz made the right suggestion... start with speakers but we need to know which model amp.

you are running 6 speakers is what I get from below...fairing, lowers and rear pods... wife does not "seem" to care about loud sound from the pods right?

Willing to replace stock HU in the long run?

I have the Hogtunes NCA 40.4 160 watt Amp its 4 channel. I would like to keep the HK head unit. I would like to run faring and speakers in the lowers as for the passenger pods could run off the radio power for now. I have a $500.00 budget and would like to get started. Thanks

I have $500.00 to get going. I want to keep the HK head unit , not against dumping the Hogtunes equipment. Thanks

Agree completely on the speakers. The speakers are the heart and soul of the system. On a budget the best speakers out there right now are the infinity 62.11i. Wrap em with the ultranutz polyfil and you have a winner for sure! Bout $220.00 for your 13' limited. (2 sets)

I will order two sets of the infinity speakers today and give it a try. I would like to put one set in the faring and the other in the lowers. Since I have HT woofers and they are 7'' they would probably have to go. Will the infinity speakers fit in the 6.5'' lower speaker pods I see on ebay? if yes will I need to buy grills? Thank you

yes they will fit in the lower pods. If you don't mind your lower pods being vivid black, wrenchguy24 in the touring classifieds has a set listed with the proper speaker grills.
