good info regarding ohms and matching speakers to source (HU/amp)
what about watts?
example: two 4 ohm speakers in parallel connected to 2 ohm channel, channel output is 150 watts @ 2 ohms. how many watts do each speaker get? 150 or 75
Each speaker would get 75 watts. Most amps however (ARC MOTO amps being an exception) have a higher output for 2 ohm compared to 4 ohm. For example 150 watts @ 4 ohms and 225 watts @ 2 ohm.
So if I understand this correctly, you can hook up one 4 ohm speaker and it would get 150 watts but if you hook up two 4 ohm speakers in parallel and each one should get 112 watts.
looks like this amp is stable at 2 ohms so front speakers wire in parallel for each channel meaning both right + to the right front + out of the amp, both right - to the right front - of the amp and the same for the left side.
I am new so pardon me if this has been asked 100 times...... How much extra sound can I get from just adding 6.5" speakers over the stock 5.25?? Just looking to upgrade a little while I am trying to decide on a final (lmao) sound system .... and from experience is this a difficult install ?

not really worth the money or effort. You really need an amp to make it worthwhile
Ok after looking around I am looking at installing the Cerwin Vega B54 with the Kicker 6.5 or the Kappa 62.11I anythings to look out for anything extra I should buy to make this go easier ?
Im installing the vega cerwin b52 and replacing the stock speakers with polk audio mm652(4ohm) and using the stock radio in my 15 sgs. I have the bt355 would I still wire my speakers in parallel.
Alot of good stuff in here, Thanks for taking the time to post all

You're only installing one set of speakers correct? If that's correct then there's no need to parallel those. If you're adding 2 sets of the same speakers that are 4ohm then yes you can parallel them to run them on a 2ch amp.

Yep,just replacing the 2 speakers in the fairing.
Will a 50amp inline fuse in the 8gauge power wire from the battery be big enough? I know cerwin vega recemends using 4g wire but was told 8 gauge wire will be fine for my set up?
Its when I want to run sets of the 4ohm speakers with a 2ch amp thats when they would be wired parallel.I Learned something new.
Also learned that the small speaker terminal is + and large speaker terminal is - . Why did harley do that?
Just purchased a RF PBR300x4 amp; American bass SQ6.9 (one of the threads here said they were great for the price). I'm not really looking for anything fantastic, just adding speakers to the lids so my wife can enjoy music while riding.
I'm still deciding if I need to upgrade the fairing speakers...
The plan is to install the amp in the fairing. Then run the lid speakers on one channel and the fairing speakers on another channel. What say the experts?
