Great point, forgot to mention the Harley Boom and Boom II only come in a 5x7 size, The Bt is a 6x9 and come with the mounting plate to mount it to the pre-14 saddlebag lids.

So why go with the booms that are more expensive, smaller and no where near the warranty?

At this point you'd probably need to find a pair that someone has taken out of their bike. It's been a while now since the issue with the tweeter stalk started and all of the older models I'm sure are gone from shelves.

Oh so technical, can I ask a simple question here. When looking for speakers for a '14 SGS (fairing speakers of course) is there lots of room for any 6 1/2" speaker or is there a depth maximum? Is a marine speaker required, or does the plastic speaker enclosure take care of that?

You can install a 6 1/2 or 7.1 speaker. These come highly recommended!
