That's why I asked for another picture. If it is the flat kind then that's why it looks like it doesn't fit. The flat kind, as I know you know, doesn't leave much space for the speaker in the area that expands to compensate for the larger speaker.

Have you tried using the spacers/adapters that came with them? Maybe they will provide enough clearance

They are the conical kind, which is the type you want. The portion of the adapter ring which should rest flat against the speaker looks awfully wide to me. I couldn't quickly figure out to capture a still. So, to anyone else who wants to look at what I'm talking about, pause the video at the 1:25 mark and see if anyone else is seeing what I'm seeing.

Looks extremely wide to me as well. I would try it with the spacer and see if that gives you enough clearance.

The same grills are used. When you upgrade to the KaBoom speakers you get a new grill with the kit that has the tweeter incorporated into it and protrudes forward an extra little bit to compensate for it. You can straight swap 6.5" speakers in a '14 or '15 but the non-CVO models through '13 came with the 5.25" speakers. To upgrade to a larger 6.5" speaker in those model years requires an adapter. The adapters the OP has from Metra aren't seating properly and look to either be the wrong ones or their mold went south because what's supposed to be the narrow portion of the adapter looks way too wide.
