You can straight swap 6.5" speakers in a '14 or '15 but the non-CVO models through '13 came with the 5.25" speakers. To upgrade to a larger 6.5" speaker in those model years requires an adapter. The adapters the OP has from Metra aren't seating properly and look to either be the wrong ones or their mold went south because what's supposed to be the narrow portion of the adapter looks way too wide.
thanks Mike, I figured it had to be something along that lines. Because everything I had seen about the 14s on up show that they pretty much bolted right in. I will say I was a little nervous when I read this. I have speakers sitting in my garage back home waiting to be installed when I get down there this weekend and thought maybe I needed some kind of an adapter.

I have the same bike and put those same speakers in using these $22 adapters from Eastern Performance, which fit perfectly:
