Default Biketronics Installed, Sounds great but...

New Sony MEX-GS810BH installed yesterday with a Biketronics Retro Kit.
Also made some speaker grills out of a mesh wastebasket.
Sounds awesome with a CD but The HD antenna in fairing couldn't even pick up the station I was listening too all day on an old AM/FM radio in the garage. May have to go back to a rear end stubby or something. Tried moving it around in the fairing,Maybe just too much going on in there.

Well I am actually happy I came across your thread. I have a thread on this exact issue. At least lets me know I am not nutz.

Biketronics is sending me a an aftermarket HU Kenwood and intall kit to try, but I see, this most likely is not going to fix my issue either. I can not pick up any FM stations either. I took the system out of my bike and everything comes in just fine. I putt he amp back in the system and all FM is lost. I have moved the ground to the grounding stud on the bike where the battery grounds. I have made sure no wires are crossing. No luck with anything. After reading this, I am now going to go take this out for good and send it back. They told me I could send it back for a refund. I am going to look into picking up a system with a non Class D amp.

Best of luck! If you figure out what is wrong, PM me, I am surely interested...!

It is widely known that if your using a class d amp you could lose fm reception.. I ditch my shorty antenna last year, added a Rockford amp and hidden antenna inside the fairing and my stations come in like before

Understood, but Biketronics claims not all class D amps effect FM, and I have been told my multiple people at Biketronics that their amps are made specifically not to mess wit FM. It is what it is... I know.. there seems to be a LOT of guys who have a Biketronics system and seem to have no issues. But I am going to go a different route... I do not want to hijack his thread, so could you PM me Rockford amp\speakers you purchased?

Very true. But what is strange about this whole thing is I know plenty guys who have installed the BT amps with 0 loss of FM reception. Matter of fact they were purchased just for that reason. No FM loss. Very strange.

On another note Jamal you are going to be hard pressed to find another system that will perform as well as the BT system for the sake of FM radio. You will have FM but your system as a whole won't sound nearly as good.

Trust me when I say I've tried and installed pretty much every amp out there or have a friend who has. Finding that perfect combo with FM and great sound is going to be a huge challenge!

I hear ya, I don't want to hijack his thread on suggestions for my bike. :-) If you want to jump back over to my thread, we can chat on equipment... I just need to find some kind of compromise...

I should have been more clear, Other stations come in great and with the added HDFM signals, 2-3 more extra channels on the same station. The station I want and have had some trouble with riding around is weak and surrounded by powerful garbage stations like only 0.1away +/-. I was just hoping repositioning the HD hidden would help. I was in the garage, Moving it around did kinda help but I was holding it up at arms length.Putting it back in the open fairing would lose it. I'm sure it's just a signal thing and not the BT 2180 amp. Thats one of the many reasons I got it also.Goin for a ride later.Out in the open I bet it works at least as good as before the Sony. I had the amp and 7.1's for a month or so already.

So you do or do not have FM signal loss? Or it is just with one station? Did you have the BT amp prior to the Sony and did you have any FM issues with that setup? Just trying to figure out if the kenwood HU might fix my issue? Or at least make it better then it is now.

I can't stand taking the time to load music. Pandora for me when I stream. But ya.. I have two great stations in my area that play the music I like. So I listen to them all the time..
