Default New Head Unit

I am in the process of up grading my system and have decided to go with a new Hu also. What I am looking for is a Hu with 5v. output, usb/media ports and no cd player. I would prefer one of the ones that the frame of the Hu is only a few inches deep as apposed to the old standard ones. I am dealing with space issues and a shorter Hu would help. Any suggestions?

i just picked up one of these, but from another site (this is the cheapest available atm):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Q&gclsrc=aw.ds

it's almost what you wanted, but a little more in some ways. 4v preouts, has a cd player but it has built in bt, hd, 2 usb ports and you can wire it up to your bike controls.

it won't get installed for a week or so, but i am sure i will love it. i have had a lot of the higher end pioneers over the years, and once they figured out the pico fuse issue they were really rock solid. i still have a pair of the older 800PRS units on a shelf and installed an 80 last year in one car.

Check out Crutchfield web site for feedback and general write-up on HU. I went with an AlpineHU that has everything & more. Solid unit. Good luck, D

When I was looking at this HU, under the features it says: Built in MOSFET 40 x 4 amplifier. What does this mean?

Absolutely nothing since you'll be using an external amp. But for instructional purposes only. It means if you did not have an external amp and you were running 4 speakers. Each speaker would receive 12.5 watts. It's actually 50 x 4. Most receivers are 17 watts RMS.
