Default Quick Shout out to J&M

So I bought the J&M amp and speakers and had them installed by J&M at the Lone Star Rally when they were there.

About a 1 1/2 year later they started sporadically cutting out and eventually quit all together. I don't ride everyday. The bike is garage kept and adult ridden so don't "abuse" the speakers. I waited till past the J&M's 2 year warranty had expired to do anything about it.

The bike was in the shop for maintenance so I had the tech check to see if I had a loose wire etc. He he advised the speakers were bad. Proved by hooking up others that worked fine with the amp.

I contacted John at J&M via e-mail and explained my situation. Figured I might be told, "too bad, warranty expired." This would have bummed me completely out as the investment was high for me and I really hadn't put a ton of miles on the system.

John responded quickly and after a few message and me sending him some pics he offered to replace the XT speaker for FREE or send me his new XX speakers for $99. I decided to stay with J&M one more time and went with the upgrade.

I received and installed the speakers. No miles yet but they sound great in the driveway. Hopefully these will last longer.

Gotta give a hearty thanks to John for taking care of me despite the expiration of the warranty. That's customer service to be commended. Definitely told my crew and will cotinue to reccomend J&M.

So your 1 1/2 year old speakers go out (that were professional installed by the seller) and your happy?

It's great that they replaced them, but for the price I would hope they last longer than a year and half...........

And then you fell for the old $99 upgrade, you should do a search and see how many others almost did the same thing.

Glad it worked out and your happy, I have some of their speakers as well. Just mine are in a box somewhere....

For the price that's a very short warranty.

Glad it worked out for you, but if we're talking warranty --- Biketronics has a lifetime warranty.

I'm thinking you should have got those $99 speakers free of charge regardless of warranty. I don't see where he did you any favors. The first set should not have quit given the usage. But if you're happy that's all that counts!

Fair enough...figured I might catch a little flak for re-investing in the company. Thinking was his new ones are $369. My warranty was expired and I have his amp. Maybe a bad choice but, new speakers from somebody else would have been more than $99 and now I have another 2 years warranteed. Also can't help but appreciate the company's owner responding to e-mails quickly.

If these don't work out I guess I gambled wrong and will look a biketronics or focals.

Hey man not knocking your decisions at all. If your happy, I'm happy for you.

The issue is that somehow, even with as many horror story reviews posted here, John has convinced the HD community that those are truly 369.00 speakers -- not even close. That's who that company truly is.

Either way man. Hope they sound great for you and last you a while!

I'm assuming you're referring to the XX 7.25's which list for 369.99. I've never owned any, but looking at the speaker it does not appear to have a separate tweeter. By way of comparison BT's base model 7.1's do have a separate tweeter, are $100 less and come with a lifetime warranty. http://www.biketronics.com/bt7p1-spe...858.1422707637. Their top end 7.1 pro's are even better but I couldn't afford them, but I'm pleased with the more affordable non Pro's. It worked out well for you I suppose that you were able to upgrade for $99, but BT's no questions asked warranty is the best in the business. Buy them once and you are done.

Guys,
I wish I could say like many of you that I have never had any issues with anything that you have ever paid top dollar for. To the OP I commend you for sharing your experience and genuine appreciation for a company that stood behind their product for you. To the rest of you that are bad mouthing JM and proclaiming Biketronics as the best company around, maybe you should look at the other posts about Biketronics and their failed hand controls. Biketronics just like JM offered to replace the items free of charge and sent it out right away. The only difference here is that the OP had an offer to "upgrade" his for an extra $99. I don't have product from either company but am in the process of trying to put together an order from an audio company right now.
The whole point here is that we all have differing opinions on what we like and what we spend out own money on. I don't think its fair to JM to bash him and his product and hold Biketronics to a different standard.
I commend both JM and Biketronics for standing behind their products, neither one of these guys MFG's their own products with their own hands. All they can do is try to source the best MFG and stand behind their own products.

Pete, you should do a search and look up some of the comments John used to post on this forum. Theres a reason he is no longer allowed to post here and that says a lot. The members that are posting here have a history helping members for quite some time and many have owned both products, actually many different audio products. Please don't comment on what members should and shouldn't bash if you do not know the history behind it. Good luck with your upgrade. Like you said it's your money.
