Default Aquatic AV speaker selection?

Recently installed Aquatic AV HU. Have a question about speaker selection. HU is 2 and 4 ohm stable. Puts out 45W x 4 at 4 ohm and 72W x 4 at 2 ohm. Would I be better off with 2 or 4 ohm speakers? Not adding an amp. Only went this direction b/c HK HU failed.

TIA

Either will work, but obviously 2 ohm speakers will be louder. A very popular 2 ohm speaker is the Infinity 62.11, but they are usually driven with more than 72 watts by forum members here.

Thanks. To take the question further, is 72W enough to drive the kappas? Nervous about burning out the HU.

I just installed the Aquatic head unit without adding an amp. It sounded fine but I decided to swap the 6 year old factory speakers as well after the expense and time spent replacing the HK radio in my 09 ultra classic.

I went with the Boom! speakers despite the fact that the audiophiles favor other brands over the HD models. I didn't want to deal with adapters or potential fitment issues so I stayed with the stock 5.25" speakers.

In the end they sound good and I'm happy with the results. YMMV.

The Kappa's begin to sound good at 100 watts of power. The HU will drive them but no where near their full potential. I'd just purchase a Cerwin Vega B2 amp for those speakers. Problem solved.

Just bought some JL Audio 6.5s. I couldn't find any Kappa 62.11 locally and didn't want something I couldn't listen to first. Speakers sound good, and I'm assuming as they break in will only get better. Didn't amp them as I didn't have the funds. Will give an amp a whirl over the winter.

I'm clueless about this, so maybe someone can clarify. Can you take an amplified output from the head unit and send it to another amp?
