Default Hogtunes 362F-RM front speakers for rushmore bikes review.

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2015 FLTRXS and my father bought a 2015 FLHXS. The factory 6.5 boombox speakers are horrible at best with tons of distortion after half volume. After researching my options I was intrigued by the all new hogtunes 6.5" speakers designed specifically for the rushmore 2014+ street glide and 2015+ road glide.

I contacted PEZ, president of hogtunes and he set me up with the 362F-RM speakers for both bikes as well as black grills to replace my ugly stock grills on the road glide.

Speakers arrived quickly and I immediately saw the difference in quality, the harley speaker is only 5.25" and has a baby magnet on the rear. The hogtunes is a 6.5" speaker with an inverted surround and a nice oversized magnet. Installation of the pair was effortless on the road glide, pop off the stock grills, 4 screws to remove each speaker, and then plug the new speaker in. The plugs lock in place and are direct plug and play. Re install screws, and using the gasket and clips from the factory grill install the new hogtunes grill.

The street glide was more involved. remove windshield, then remove 4 screws from inner fairing, unplug headlight and remove outer fairing. There are now speaker enclosures that need to be removed. A total of 8 screws/bolts hold each enclosure to the bike. On the brake lever side you have to remove the 12v power cord for cigarette lighter. Once enclosre is off, it'sthe same 4 screws and speaker as the road glide. There are 3 screws holding the stock cloth grills to the fairing. Remove them and replace the cloth grill with the supplied metal grills. Reinstall and you're done.

These speakers are night and day better than stock. Almost all distortion gone even at full volume. The look of the speaker and grill is much more pleasant also.

Above 40mph I still found the volumes inadequate, attributed to the wimpy 25w stock head unit. I sent an email to PEZ about the 2 channel amplifier they make for this setup.

My father is happy with the change of speakers and doesn't necessarily need the amplifier. I would say it's going to be 50/50 on your preference. I like My music LOUD so the amp is a must have. I will update this post when I receive the amp.

All in all I'm happy with hogtunes and for the price they are hard to beat. I look forward to adding the amplifier and seeing what the 100w rms per channel will do to it.

Ryan

Can some one please post actual size and dimensions of these 6.5" and the 362r-rm rear. Mounting hole spacing and replacement cover, round actual size. Trying to figure out if these will work in aftermarket 6.5 lower speaker pods. I cant find any specs on line. Thanks

You don't want these in your lower pods brother.

Do you plan to run an amp?

Totally agree! Ony thing I would add workingman is always consider it a red flag when you can't find the specs online.
