Bad Dad LED speaker lids, FINALLY!
Well, after 6+ weeks of one issue or another I finally picked up my Bad Dad LED speaker lids from the painter. There's a couple lessons I learned. 1-painters move at their own pace, and there is no such thing in their world as a priority. 2-paint is expensive. 3-HD colors are even more expensive and harder to match. 4-buy a black bike and repaint it when you get it to an already mixed color you want, it's just easier that way.
Anyone looking for the numbers of 2014 Daytona Blue Pearl I've added the picture of the mix numbers for you, you'll have to buy a factory pack and it can only be ordered out of Ohio from PPG, be ready to donate a kidney AND a lung.
Ugh, finally done, everything installed. They look good and work nice, speakers rock! Installed Biketronics 5x7's in the lids.
Now the bad. As with everything you do that's custom it never seems to match the factory stuff, so in one picture the lids look much more blue, in others they look the same. (Even my HD parts don't match) The painter had a side cover off the bike, inside they match perfect, outside depending on how you look it's different. The Daytona Blue Pearl has been a royal pain, it drove the painter crazy (and me), PPG mixed it wrong so they had to remix it, they both did spray out cards and it matched. Well, the costly part of this color is the actual "pearl" mixture, that's hard to match too. No biggie, down the road I'll be doing extended bags and fender so maybe I'll have the rest of the pieces painted and take the ugly stripe off the fairing.
As for the Bad Dad lids, they look great but for the price they charge I would give them a "C" because the handle contraption needed some work to fit, and the tabs where it is supposed to screw in are not very sturdy. If you want something you can just bolt right on and not have to do anything buy the HD lids. If you want to do a little work and a "little" swearing get these
So, here's a couple crummy phone pictures and a video in the garage with the 4-ways on.
