Stock Speaker Grill
Playing around today I unscrewed my Hertz 6.5s in faring to install some LED lightning in the adapter for some cool effects. It occurred to me that this stock speaker grill may be chewing up some nice sound. The stock grill has the mesh cloth as the first layer, then a plastic piece with holes as a second layer before the speaker. I'm thinking that the plastic piece with holes is surely costing me some fine fidelity! It occurred to me after I fired up my LED in the adapter and it was so dark, I could barely see the LED. Was I an idiot for leaving the plastic grill on? I think the cloth grill would suffice. Lets face it, with all of the audio, were all in trouble with any serious water anyway so what good would it be leaving it in. I'm interested in thoughts when you replaced your speakers. As always, appreciate the input.
build your own grills. mesh trash can... use stock grills as template, cut out. Spray the color you like (I tried chrome, still have that set as well, and black - Vivid black painted along with other parts when I took them to the painter).
I can see the Polks clearly and like the look... Bro did not like it and them changed his mind... got them too now (flat black spray painted).
or go with custom ones (aftermarket) - there are some vendors out there. Search the audio threads for it.

Mine are similar to Gannicus' version: http://hawg-wired.com/product_info.php/cPath/2/pPath/97
I like them, and everything is nice and clear for me too!
