Next upgrade on my 15 streetglide is sound system...
Here is what I know about sound systems.. I like clear sound..deep bass and simplicity...
I have read most of the threads on here and I got to say I am rather confused... Where can a guy go to figure out what is gonna work for him?
My bike gets rode in the rain some days... So do I need a certain type of speaker?? Can I just go to best buy and get some that fit? Do I need to replace my head unit too?
Lol sometimes I think it would be easier to just pay someone to do it instead of me wasting money and time doing it wrong..
The "First responder" is just that,,He'll save you! He, (nor Gannacious) or many others on here will steer you wrong,, give him a budget, and your desires, and he will give you great options on a system... he's one of a few on here you want to listen to!
Gann caught most of my posts, and led me down a path I am happy with!
Good lids will run you around 600 bucks alone with paint.
You can get GREAT bass with the "right" 6X9's inside your bags. With your budget if you want loud and bass I'd get:
Fairing - Arc Audio Moto 602 - 300.00
Bags - Infinity 693.9i 150.00 (these are discontinued and hard to find, so you might have to call around they are worth it).
Amp - PN4.1000D 150.00
Amp bracket - Get it from J&M 150.00
Magic box - 69.00 (too many folks having issues with their flash)
Amp wiring kit - 20.00
Polyfill, extra wires, etc. - 30.00
Around 900.00 bucks and this will hit HARD.
If you wanted more fidelity, clarity, but slightly not as loud I'd get
Hertz HCX speakers 300.00
Diamond Audio Micro 4 - 350.00
instead of the Arc's and PN4.1000D amp set up.
For installation drill a 3 inch hole in the back of your pods as they will vibrate otherwise and distort from the added bass, and lightly put some polyfill in there. If you were closer to FL I would've installed it you to hear it!
For the 2015's your options for lids are limited. The only 6X9 ones that I know of are the hog tunes, but you have to buy them with their speakers. The HD ones are nice, but only take 5X7's. If you go that route get the JL Audio 5X7's with either amp listed above and you'll get some pretty good bass. Awesome bass, you need the 6X9 inside your bag.
Either way, you as the rider won't hear much of anything in your bags while you ride. Everyone around you will though!
