Default mutazu lower fairing pods - bad product, good customer service

word to the wise...

i wanted to install lower fairing pods and speakers, and since this stuff is all mass produced in china (or somewhere similar) the mutazu brand was found to be the lowest price. strangely they were $95 shipped if i bought directly or $85 shipped via ebay, so i got my set from ebay.

they arrived today and in addition to the 4 mounting holes there were 2 additional but different diameter holes on one mounting surface and 3 on the other pod. i called the company and explained the problem and at first gina (the rep) did not comprehend what i was trying to explain. the problem is that on both pods one of the additional, different diameter holes was drilled right next to a mounting hole essentially making it twice the size and a large oval instead of a hole, leaving almost nothing for the screws to bite into.

gina grabbed a pair they had on hand that a customer was picking up from them today and that set didn't have any holes drilled in one and only 4 holes in the other. needless to say quality control is not high on the list of things to do by the manufacturer.

now i have to mail them back, wait for the payment to be refunded and then (most likely) wait for paypal to do their typical "funds will be available in 10 days" routine. in the end it was a game of hurry up and wait for a defective product that will cause me to wait longer and be without my cash for over a month.

I'm going to try fairing factory when I'm ready to pull the plug. I'll be installing my new HU, speakers, wiring, etc. in 2 weeks.

Sorry to hear that. But thanks for taking the time to warn others! I guess fairing factory it is!

Or find used OEM lowers. Solid fit with options for CVO pods with 6 1/2 speakers.....Clean look and solid sounds. Good luck.

I too wanted to add lowers, and bought a set of Mutazu lowers with speaker pods and "professional" speakers. I didn't even bother with the speakers, and went straight to the trash, but otherwise I'm happy with them. I've had Polks, Infinity's and currently BT 6.5's in them are it's worked out really well for me. My bike is black, so I ordered the black ones and the fit and finish was good. The hardware was iffy and I replaced it with genuine HD stuff. Almost two years now with no complaints.

I got mine from Matazu some years back and the first set was crap and I called they offered to exchange and the second set was perfect.

you got hardware? all i got were the 2 pods in a single layer of cheap bubble wrap banging around in an over-sized box.

the rep talked about that but said that since what i got was not right and different than the set they had on hand (that wasn't right) that there was no point in ordering a replacement. she literally told me they just buy them from the manufacturer and they don't know what they get until they receive them.
