Default Speaker Specs broken down.

So I'm curious. I know there are a lot of gurus on here and I am thankful for their knowledge. So here's my question. When a speaker is rated in DB's how does that relate to sound quality. For example my Polk mm641's are rated at 94 db's. Biketronics 7.1's are rated at 94db's. My Polk 5x7's are rated at 92db's. Is the higher the number mean a better speaker? Does it mean better sound quality? Just curious as I want better sound quality from my amp SSpn4.1000. I want the cleanest clearest sounding speaker I can get. Thank you in advance for the help.

Basically what you are talking about is speaker sensitivity. Doesn't mean the speaker has better sound quality. Just means the speaker is more efficient. In other words the higher the sensitivity the less power you need for the speaker to get loud. The speakers you mention are very efficient. Efficiency is good with our charging systems!!

the sensitivity AS WELL AS Ohms impact the loudness.
Amps in general will output more Watts to a 2 ohm than a 2.7 ohm (Your MM Polks) than a 4 ohm. But if your amp is powerful enough like the SS PN4.1000 it will not "matter".

As Gannicus mentioned, high sensitivity does not mean good speaker (sound).

Also the PN4.1000D is "good" amp (especially for the price and power it puts out) but not a sound quality amp. If you want crystal clear sound you want the Arc 600.4, Diamond Audio Mirco4 or the JL 400/4. The later two will not be as loud, but will sound clearer. The arc will be clearer but not as warm sounding. Doesn't matter what speakers you have if you don't have the right amp paired with them.
