Thinking about sending my HK radio to Iron Cross audio for some upgrades,
1. Bluetooth
2. RCA plugs.
My current system needs help, I have a new soundstream ST4, 1000D amp
and various speakers, I currently have an 8 speaker system, for what I have it kinda sucks, it's loud, but quality is lacking.
Not knowing the difference between 2-OHM, and 4-OHM speakers, i've wasted money on my system.
I have 6.5" Focal 165 CA1 in my Lower fairing
5X7 focal ICS 570 speakers in the saddlebag lids
fairing speakers, JL C2-650 6.5
Biketronics speaker pod in the fairing.
Rockford R2D2 subwolfer in the inner part of the saddlebag.
So now what do I do to make this system sound good?
I have a ford F350 I can put most of the speakers into, It has a OK system, but the speakers can be imporved, so I'm not out totally on money, I want to run a 2-OHM in a series with my speakers, looking for the best speakers for the money?
What can I salvage from my wasted money?
Dude you have some awesome quality speakers and a mickey mouse amp. That thing can't drive that. That's why it sounds like crap because you maxing that amp and getting distrtion, it can't physically move all those speakers. What's your budget? If it were me (and you have some quality stuff so I'd do it right)
1. Get an aftermarket HU and forget about Ironcross unless I absolutely needed CB
2. I'd get one amp in the fairing to push the fairing and lowers in parallel and 5x7's by themselves. All depends your budget here, but a Soundstream PN4.1000D would do the trick.
3. For the sub I'd add a Cerwin B2 or B52 in the bag and push it with that. Or push the 5X7's with the Cerwin and subs with the Soundstream. Actually that's what I would do. The Cerwin has better SQ, might as well give that to your 5X7's.

You live right here in Indy Bro. . PM ME. I'll have your system sounding fantastic in record time. . lol
I did the bluetooth and RCA output mod on my HK from Iron Cross, and it helped with the sound quality tremendously. But the others are right you probably need a better amp to push that setup.
If I didn't want to keep my CB I would have replaced the headunit.. but if you want to keep the stock HU the mods you listed are going to be your best option. It will won't be perfect but it will be as good as you can get with the stock HU.

I talked to Gannicus last nite on the phone, I explained my issues and my setup, his solution was very simple for me to fix, I have a Biketronics tweater bar on my fairing, with JL C-3 fairing speakers, I get distortion out of the speakers, Gannicus states my amp hooked up to the tweater bar will give the distortion of the C-3s so I'm going to just disconnect the tweater bar and see how that will workout. I also have my system in series, he suggest that I go with parallel wiring setup. looks like I'm going to be busy the next couple of days, I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
A special thanks to Gannicus for his free advice!
