Went for a cruise ,on hearing my kappas 62.11 cutting out powered by B52
I decided to pull everything apart ,once I got to the speakers the magnet was real hot , so I had some Alpine Spr 60 sitting around , I thought why not install them ,got everything together and the sound was unbelievable got my my bass
And am happy
Now why were the magnets on the kappas so hot that I could not hold them
Hmmm Strange. That's a great set up with the kappas and the B52. Right off the top of my head I'd say you had a clipping/distortion issue and the voice coils got too hot at high volume. The B52 is a very powerful amp at 2 ohms. 250W X 2 channels. The kappas take way more power than what they are rated but you have to be careful when you send 250W to each speaker. Especially with the gain settings. Or the speakers could simply be defective. I've heard of a few failures with the kappas but it's very rare.
Had the pbr 300 x 2 with the kappas at first ,just wasn't loud enough for my AC/DC
so invested in the B52 way more punch ,see how I go with the Alpines plus they sit flush on the inner fairing
