6.5 component speaker system
Is anyome running 6.5 component speakers in thier fairings? Seems like the speaker would clear the stock grills easier. Looking at some hertz components but unsure of what amp I should go with. Im thinking the hertz hpc2 amp would be great, any recommendations?

Component speakers are normally more power hungry than coaxial speakers. Therefore you need an amp with power to push em. The Hertz HCP2 is a weak amp at 65 watts@ 4 ohms. You would be severely disappointed with that amp. You would be much happier with a Biketronics 2180, A Cerwin Vega B52 or a Rockford Fosgate T400X2ad all with enough power to push your speakers.

I'm pleased to see this question Blainer and your answer Gannicus. I'm about to embark on an audio upgrade on a 2015 Ultra and the fairing is getting a pair of Hertz ESK 165.5's driven by a Soundstream PN4.320D bridged at 4 Ohms to deliver 160 watts a channel. Hertz claim a RMS of 100 watts and a peak of 300 watts so I'll be curious how they behave. I'll report once installed and tested.

Bro - I don't know how else I can say it. 65 watts x 4 is not enough power to push your speakers. The best amp Hertz has is the HDP4 @ 150 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. If you are hell bent on getting a Hertz amp. Get the HDP4. Best advice I can give you man.

Ahhh okay. My friend Haze correctly points out that is in fact a class D amp!! I stand corrected. Yes bridged that amp would supply enough power to drive your speakers. I don't think it will fit in the fairing though.
On the other hand if you wanted to expand your system in the future you would want a strong 4 channel amp at 4 ohms. So if you're going to purchase an amp that you will have to place in the saddle bags anyway. The best choice is the HDP4.
