Question what's a good head unit these days?

I just got a Biketronics installation kit in the mail, so now i need to find a head unit. I prefer Sony units (ive had one in my truck for a decade), but i'm not sure what to look for

is there a big difference between a standard car unit and a marine unit?

what should i look for in the screen, what color schemes would get washed out by the sun?

any tips/advice regarding the install process is appreciated

also a HUGE Thank you to Biketronics. i emailed them asking if their warranty would cover a control module off ebay, and they offered to sell me a new one for almost the same price!

I have the Sony MEX-M70bt. It was recommended to me by quite a few people here on this forum. I like it and find the display easy to see.

I,have the sony btx 310. No issues, except that it is a lil harder to see during the day. It has all the features i need though. I keep it on the blue color as it matches my gauges.

I also use M70BT It does have Blue or Red-Orange lighting and another huge plus it is has a higher voltage output on the low level outs, that most amps really like. During daylight hours it is black characters on a white background and is awesome to see. Others will chime in as well. Only negative I can come up with is that it has been around a while so as soon as ya get it, there will be something newer. Hope this helps
Kris

I have the Sony MEX-M70BT and regret it. There are too many options on it and very hard to navigate if you want to change something while your riding. If you set it on something, USB 2 for example, and go and don't change anything, all is good. Except, mine sometimes just decides to shut off. It doesn't lose power, just turns itself off. Turn it back on and then try to get back to where it was (USB 2) is difficult (you have to navigate through: Tuner, AUX, BT Phone, BT something else, Pandora, CD, USB 1,..). The BT feature is nice, but sometimes the pairing is a PITA. The sound adjustments are complicated. Instead of raising and lowering bass and treble, you have to adjust 10 different frequencies. Another PITA. It's a nice stereo, but I don't recommend it for a bike.
