What kind of set up are u looking at, what model and year sled, and what is the approximate price range?
Not trying to pry, but I think u will get good feedback here regarding a plug and play set up that will get you the most bang for your buck. In many many cases you can blow away the HT sound quality and reliability for equal or lesser donuts.

RS -

The REV 200 RM is the amp you seek from Hog Tunes. 2 channel amp. Cost $329.95 for the amp alone. The REV 200 SG Kit-RM with the hog tune speakers is $429.95. The amp specs are very deceiving. You're actually looking at approximately 50 watts per channel.

You can get a much better system for the money for the SG. Same thing with the limited. No dealer program necessary is a marketing strategy.

There may be better or less expensive setups out there. That said, I have a 6 speaker Hogtunes system (Fairing, lowers, tweeter) on my Streetglide and am very happy with it.

The two systems we are looking at are half the cost of the Harley set up , is it true they don't require dealer program?

The fact they don't need dealer programming should steer you clear of this set up. The factory HU signal is programmed/set with a frequency curve to compliment the stock speakers without an amplifier. When you amplify that "curved" signal with sufficient power what you get is a distorted sound because it is not a flat frequency signal like what comes out of any radio you've messed with before; think the treble and bass (or Equalizer) in your car. So the dealer "flash" is to set the radio to an amp setting where there is a flat signal. Companies like Bikentronics sell converters that will flatten the signal.

So if a company says their system is plug and play and you don't need a flash it's because the amplifier is not sending enough power to cause distortion and that means it's also not enough power to enjoy your tunes at speed.

If you are going to make the investment I would steer clear of the Hogtunes products. For a tad more the closest thing to plug and play without needing dealer flash is a Biketronics system and it's leagues better.

For a 2 speaker comparison (not familiar with Hogtunes packages).

My first setup on my 15' SGS was a Cerwin Vega B2 with Arc Audio Moto 602 6.5" speakers with a PAC SNI-35 w/dealer flash which ran me about $420.

With some of the sponsor vendors (LL247) you can get the 602's cheaper than I did which would offset the price of the new Biketronics BT355 which you will not need a flash. You can also go with the Cerwin Vega B52 which has 50 more watts than the B2.

I have switched to a BT355 and an amp with comparable power to a B52 and the sound is a lot better. (check our Bunkers vids of his Rockford amp bridged to the 602's to give you an idea).

Just something to think about and give you another option.
