Default Frustrated w/ Hogtunes

I have an 09 Electra Glide Classic I bought used a couple of years ago. Like most of you I wanted to improve the weak stereo output. I first replaced the speakers with a pair of Hogtunes 902.2-AA that I bought from a friend as new leftovers from her closing down her bike shop. There was a slight improvement in sound so I decided to buy an amp. Since I already had Hogtunes speakers I decided to go with the Hogtunes REV 200-AA amp because of the plug and play and because it is two channel and I didn't plan on adding anymore speakers than what is in the fairing. I don't know why since I've never had trouble hard wiring stereos in the past. I guess just being lazy. Well, the set up sounded like crap no matter how I adjusted the treble, bass, or amp gain. The speakers crackle during normal play and pop on bass notes. I think they are just under powered. Another friend of mine with a different bike shop told me that the Hogtunes 2 channel amp is junk and only putting out 20 watts of power.

I contacted Hogtunes about all of this. They wanted me to send the amp to them to test it. Well, I wasn't about to do anything middle of riding season and thought I might send it middle of winter. Then I had arm surgery yada yada next thing I know it's February and a nice day out. I go ride and the amp poops out permanently. I remove it, plug speakers back in and have sound again. I contact Hogtunes to mail back the amp and I am now in the middle of screwing around to get a shipping label since they are based in Canada.

My dilemma is I'm not sure I want to bother with another Hogtunes amp even if it is a brand new one. Is the amp really crap or did I just get a lemon? I've already sunk $300 into this amp and hesitant to sink more $ into another brand. I know this is only two speakers so sound will never be awesome. What should I do? If I should go with another 2 channel amp with these speakers, which one?

Thanks fellas, I will do as advised. I assume these will do ok with the motorcycle elements (weather, water)? Kills me spending all that money for nothing. The moral dilemma now is should I take the new replacement amp and put everything on Craigslist for some other poor sap.

Do I need adapter rings? I saw on a review that Kappas have several different size rings in the box.

yes you will need adapter rings the ones in the kappa box are not the ones you need. I am sure someone will chime in about what ones are good.
What size speakers are in there now?
