Default Cheap Bluetooth Mod for HDPD users

Wanted to add Bluetooth capability to my stock HU, HDPD Ipod adapter, PBR300 and BT 7.1s. I've got plenty of songs on the Ipod but nice to have totally different playlists once in awhile.
Got this for $29 from amazon, plugs right up to the ipod connector in my saddlbags and instant Pandora, etc. Sounds great, very crisp and clear.

Default A couple questions

New guy to the audio forums (just got an '11 Limited, first bike with music onboard) here, with a couple questions.

Do you get track info from whatever device you have paired with this BT unit over the ipod cable (as if it was coming from a connected iPod)?

Do you have audio track control via the grip mounted audio control switches?

I'm trying to come up with a neat way to feed audio (mostly locally stored on an android phone that will be fairing mounted for nav as well) to the system with minimal cables. The bike already has a the iPod cable interface.

Thanks!

Dan

No to both, but opens up the spectrum of internet programming to me. We have the Sonos system in our home so I have a bunch of custom stations created on Iheart radio, Pandora, etc on my phone. Also, with T-Mobile we get unlimited music data streaming, so no issues there. Just a nice change of pace from the music I already own.

bummer, guess I'll just stick with the hard wired connection in the bag. Don't wanna lose those features.

Thanks

I like the control of my Ipod for sure , but i actually kind of like the change of pace on long trips of hearing new stuff and just letting it roll.

Think I'm gonna stick with the wired iPod in the bag for now as well (at least until the vibrations kill the aging hard disk). Since it has most of the same music that I have stored locally on the phone, it gets the most use, and I like the hand controls.

That's pretty much what I figured you were gonna tell me :-/ I've looked at quite a few of these 30-pin bluetooth adapters, and that seems to be the general consensus across most vehicles with ipod docks. Though some seem to work with some vehicles. there was one that actually advertised track display and steering wheel remote functionality on some particular vehicle brands, (not HD) but it was also $90. I'm with you as far as using pandora / iHeart to get some new tunes going, but that will be a more limited part of my usage, so it makes more sense for me to use the iPod in the dock, and just use an aux cable for the times I want to use Pandora or need nav audio. Maybe I'll change my mind when I get my phone mounted up - I might be able to find a player with a good in-car set of play controls so it will be easy to manage on the bike. Need an interface with big buttons because I always wear gloves.
