Since I started changing and upgrading my audio on my 09 Street Glide, it seems like I have problems with it every year.
Years ago, I changed the speakers out from stock to J&M speakers. Then later I had Dragonfly Cycle install an amp and the 6.5 Focal speakers at the ROT rally in TX.
Here's where the problems started... Then, on my way home from the ROT rally in TX (at the time, I was living in South GA) my radio went kaput. No sound at all. That turned out to be the stock HK head unit...the output had gone out. So I replaced it with a rebuilt HK unit. ...and the next year the output on that one went out too. So I sent it to Iron Cross Audio, and they fixed it.
Yesterday I replaced the battery in the bike and started it up, and let the radio stay on so the XM could update while I gave it a bath....
I was spraying the inside of my windshield and suddenly, silence. Damnit.
Just like the last times the output on the head unit went out, I can see on the radio display what is supposed to be playing, but there is no sound.
I'm hoping it's a blown fuse or something, but I have a feeling that it's the damn HK head unit AGAIN.
Have any of you had these repetitive problems?
Guesses as to why it conked out when I was spraying water?....coincidence or a short?
I'm frustrated over this audio situation. Suggestions? Thoughts?
