sound stream amp shuts off

Default sound stream amp shuts off
Ok a friend has a soundstream amp in his bike with j&m speakers in his fairing. Somebody else installed it for him and it kept cutting off. So he brought it to me. I had to change some wiring the speakers were bridged and he had the left going through the front and the rear going through the back. I changed it to use only the front channels on the 4 channel amp. Checked all other wiring and ground wire is now to battery. Went for a ride and it still cut off. Radio is still on and looks like it is working. Get home pull fairing and there are no lights on amp. Like it just shut off. Tested that it was getting power and all looks good. Turn bike off and on it comes right back on and works.

Any ideas to what is going on?

The Soundstream amps are only stable @ 4ohms bridged. J&M are 2ohm speakers. Very possible that severe damage has already occurred with the amp.

AMP going into protection mode.
If amp is bridged going to the jm speakers not good.
AMP is only 4 ohm stable in bridged mode not 2 ohm as the jm speakers are 2 ohm

Yea I know it was only 4 ohm stable thats why I changed the wiring. I was starting to think the amp was bad. The only thing is it shuts off like there is no power but there is. No protection mode light or anything.

How long has he been running it this way and which SS amp is it?

Its the PN4.520D. Rode with it that way for a week. Then he pulled the fuse.

It was 2-3 hrs with the fuse in and radio on.

That's long enough to do damage to the amp. Especially if he was cranking it pretty hard.

Kinda what I was thinking. He decided to pull that amp and he is going to have me build a system for him. Radio amp and speakers. What is a good radio with bluetooth that works well in the motorcycle environment?
