As most know I currently have mille legend components bridged off my 600.4. I am adding bag lids. Been through many ideas and still feel 6x9 is best choice for rear fill and some idle/parking bump. Now I have to add a second amp to do bag lids with current setup. Going from Outside the box to in the box have a thought of going to the new focal es165k elite k2 for front stage and using the arc solely to power front and rear, or add the second amp and power the rear and keep the current front stage. So is it illogical to switch high powered Hertz to running the Focal which require less power and retain a single amp? It will be cheaper to switch to the Focal in the end but will I get the volume like I have now? Been teetering on this idea for a few weeks. Bag lids and speakers will be ordered Friday and the rest is in the air. Thoughts?
How much juice u need for those Millie Components? Pretty tuff to dedicate one good sized amp and 4 channels to one set of speaks when ur chasing the unicorn.
I would bet a 12 pack that u r not going to stop with lids so I would focus on ur potential end state amp set up and how much audio crap ur willing to put in the bags.
That was a massive limiting factor for me thus I have 3 amps under the hood and speakers that work well with such platform. Only reason for 3 amps v 2 is that a 4180 and these little micros strategically placed fit perfect under the hood. Could not parallel due to specs. Micros are bridged pushing 175 each and not much bigger than an iPhone plus.
Stuff a micro under the hood to power the Hertz, as for the ARC 600 drop some screaming 6.5s in the lids, and run 6x9s inside the bags.
The lid speakers is where u can really get way outside the box but I would not pay what they are asking for those brand new Focals. I dig my KRXs in the lids but did not pay half of what they are asking for these new ones.

The legends take two fiddy per side. The Focals could do fine with one fiddy I am thinking. I have no plan to exceed bag lids. That's a promise. I only want rear fill and a little extra volume riding and sitting idle. The bags lids will do fine with the other one fiddy per side. If I add a second amp I am either adding a micro or a t400x2ad. Already made a mount. I have a set of brand new hsk 165XL's uninstalled currently stashed away. I will get the Focal from LL and can sell the XL's for close to the Focal cost. I have never heard the focal in person and not sure they would near suffice what I have now for front stage? Just a little thought through before I get any deeper. I have thought about both f&r 6.5's but don't feel I would benefit from them as a rear fill for the required power to feed them. All my components currently need 250 per side. I had a version of the micro already and know I could squeeze it but really leaning on the 2 channel rockford or I can get a b52 but not a huge fan of the CV personally.
If ur sticking with lids only, go with JL880s a micro and be done. A bit edgy in appearance but if you paint the grill all black it will fit good with the style u currently have.
The 880 really is sick. The are 80+ mph rear fill. But it's all about how far u are willing to stray from the conventional bag lids. Voodoo makes very cool stuff.

At this point I have narrowed it down to Hogworkz lids. Come vivid black, LL is becoming a dealer, and I'd rather have a sleeker more basic look. I'm sure the *80's sound good but I'm simple and too much for me. That and my vertically challenged wife can barely swing over the lids now, and the rate they scratch, I can use covers with the cvo style lids. If close to 1000w of power to 4 speakers doesn't do it then I am deaf.

Totally with ya there bro. Did not have the desire for the 880 lids either.
Go large on the lid speaks!!!! Don't think u will find a 6x9 that will get u the rear fill that u want though.
