Default Removing a speaker pod

If I ever meet the degenerate Bastard that designed the Rushmore speaker pods, I'm gonna punch him right in the mouth. 16 screws or bolts, 4 different heads, and four of them can't be seen from the outside. A 5 minute job takes 45 minutes.

I really didn't think they were all that bad to remove. I've done worse things. Like a heater core swap in a 1996 GMC Jimmy. Look it up if you're curious.

Try an "F" body ( Firebird / Camaro ) 80's vintage.

Makes ya wonder if engineers ever think that somebody may actually need to repair/replace parts ever.

Do you have "pod knuckle" now?

There's a Brotherhood here on the forum.

Those pods are a piece of cake to get out if you have a good 1/4 inch drive set with a long extension, universal joint and a 7/16 shallow socket for the lower bolts.1/4inch ratchet wrench and the correct torques/Allen bits help also.

I was actually taking a break to cool down before I broke something. I like the "pod knuckle brotherhood". How do I get patched? Seriously, I replaced the button head screws that are in the upper part next to the stereo head unit with hex head bolts when I put it back together. It's damn near impossible to get an allen wrench in there, there is no horizontal space. At least with the regular bolt heads, I can get a wrench on it. It would make more sense if they didn't use four different styles and sizes of fasteners on the one piece. I agree with Covert on the heater core swap. I remember torching a hole in the firewall of a Camaro to get the heater core out. I wonder if Harley is hiring all those old out of work GM engineers to design their bikes now. That would explain a lot.

Lol! Man its always the easy jobs that take the longest! Could disassemble and entire bike quicker than it takes to remove a few screws!
