Default Rushmore tuning sequence when using amp and BT Line Levelers

Just read the whole BT Line Leveler sticky to not avail for my brain, although it came close once but then started mentioning Scopes, I have no scopes.

Can any one please list the best sequence to set up gains, like did you set amp gains first or LL gains first or LL frequencies first. on old bike I used the up 3/4 method then back off but only had the amp to contend with

Most concerned in the sequence of steps tune, not sure if I should mess with amp gains first of Line Levelers first.

Did you keep Full pass on or go to HPF,

Biketronics claims that no adjustment is suggested on their line leveler so you would just set the amp gains and frequency. On that note, I tweeked my leveler a little to warm up the sound to my liking but it also adds some distortion so it's a double edged sword....

I would recommend leaving the LLs in the default settings and doing the 3/4 ear tune using the amp gains.
I am using full pass but certain that others will chime in on that selection.

I pretty much feel the same way just below distortion on amp setting and when I start tweeking LL all seems to go out the window, and now that I have tweeked my leveler not really sure if I am even back to default settings, the only thing I can find on the biketronics site is a PDF picture of the Line levelers to help get back to default settings but no sequence to dial these things in, while using a tunable amp.

Their intended for use with an amp that has no gain settings.

I would leave the LL alone and just set the gains on the amp using the sticky posted. Grab a DMM and set the VAC with the bike running according to the chart Slyedog posted. If you have some distortion at full pass, then set it to HPF and raise the frequency cut off.

The reason I ditched the Magic box and bought the Biktronics Adjustable Line Levelers was the rave on here for the adjust ability function these. Now 3 suggestions in a row to leave them at factory settings???

My cave man explanation.
I think u might have misunderstood the purpose of the LL for the Rushmore as it takes the shixxy signal from the HU and performs some fancy internal magic. No need to adjust the gains on it as you have gains on your amp.
In a nutshell, your amp is getting much better input from the LL due to internal programming regardless of what u do with the gains. If u want to crank up the gains on the LL have at it, but a gain is a gain is a gain. Just use the amp if u need to increase the output.

Tailwind,

Thanks for the explanation in the simplest terms, that's what I need to understand sometimes, that helped as I was all caught up in tuning the LL.

I have the BT4180 installed with no gain controls and also an amp with all the *****. On the BT the LL gain is my only way to increase amp output. On the other amp, it really just simplifies things to stick with the default of 12 o'clock for LL gains and LL HPF set at the lines, and use the controls on the amp. End result whichever gain u use or if its a combo of both gains is that you are targeting an optimum VAC / clean signal coming out of the amp.
Haze or some of these smart guys can explain technically what the LL does but essentially my audio pea brain understands that it levels out a really shixxy bass band / curve that is coming out of the Rush HU that is in place as a factory setting to make the Boom produce the least crappy sound possible.
The Rushmore guys have had amazing success with the LLs so hope u find the same.
Ultimately you are absolutely on point regarding your expectation of what us Rush guys really do need, and that is an equalizer that we can install to really gain more control of the HU output. It's on several of our list of audio goals so keep the faith!!!! Hope to break the code ASAP!!!!
